Ela Rei!

So I just arrived in Greece and it’s effin WARM!
I love it! Warm and Breezy!
In NYC it was raining and grey so this is a breather.

I saw some friends in Day 1 and had a tourist day in thecity
Visited the Acropolis and the museum.

On the way to Rafina (Port) we passed through a traffic jambecause there was some sort of rally.
In a country that is in economic crisis the first thing thatyou cut cost on is your advertising and marketing budget.

The greek TV station just retrenched 2/3rds of theiremployees due to cost cutting.
This is sad to see all those advertising artists especiallywho has dedicated loosing their art and soul (kidding) in working for anadvertising/main stream TV firm and they get fired. L
This sucks.

I’ve been eating greek food for the last two days and it’samazing!!

One of the main reasons why I like to kite here in Greece isbecause I love the vibe here.

People are chill
It’s sunny.
The beaches are great
The social life is good
And the food is healthy.
Plus of course it’s very windy.

Check out whatsup in Paroskite.gr to know more about thisplace where I will be for the summer.
Am really excited to go now.

We are currently in the ferry to Paros.
I got in contact with the local BEST rider from Greece, MikeChatziliadis, who I also met here on my first year visiting Greece.

Last year if you remember mike and afro are the ones thatpicked me up in the airport where prior to that mike sprained his ankle reallybad. Now he is better that ever and of course riding with BEST.

Stayed tuned on what we have in store for you this summer.
The House is set and we are ready to shred, Greek style!

PEACE!

Dancing on my own

What a lot you guys don't know about me,
is i love to Dance.
..i love movement.
anything that involves the body, the mind, the soul is an art for me.
I involve a lot of dancing in my riding.
especially on the rails and when i go kiting.

as much as i love dancing and goofing around with other people in the dance floor,
nothing beats dancing on my own.. but with a twist.

when i was a kid, i did a lot of classical ballet, modern jazz, theatre arts, plus a lot of other stuff,
a couple of years ago, i got hooked on poi/fire dancing, then to dancing on rails, yoga, acroyoga,
dancing with my kite, flowersticks and now also with a hoola hoop.
----

Dancing is a therapy. an art,
a self expression of what is in my heart.

Me and anny had a conversation the other day that at points in your life you want portraits taken of you so you can look back in the future to see how you were and how you became to be that person.
-
I had is great idea for a portrait of me, on who i am now.

so this is me, this is my portrait, i hope you can recognize me, and who i have become -
 27 years and counting X

----

Each of us is a reflection of our experiences, the people that we meet, the places that we've been and the sadness that life brings from time to time.

A series of Portraits taken by
Laura Payne
PS: girl you are amazing!
These pictures made my heart melt when i saw them <3 p="p">
i was just gonna choose a couple of pics but i just can't trim it down anymore.
all the shots are great!!
I hope you love them too!

taken at Pounta Beach, Paros Island, Greece

PS: I would like to take this opportunity to thank everyone who helped me where i am now, for those who believed..
To all the great memories and the misunderstandings that we had and we will have.
-
You might think that i don't thank you enough, but if you know me well enough, you know..
trust that you are an inspiration and always will forever have a place in my big heart that radiates in my big smile.

Paros is such a beautiful spot.
i remember i had a moment of bliss a couple of weeks ago
just cruising around the spot over sunset.
My God, it's pretty!

So i took my GoPro out to let you see
what i see.
Enjoy!

PS: this was a really windy day, i had to depower my 7m and was cruising fast.

So, Ms. Anny Barlow decided to come this season to Paros too.

Paros by Night

Paros is lovely during the day
and it's lovelier at night.
here are some snaps from a night out in Naoussa.
Naoussa is a small town here in Paros where all the restaurants and bars are located.
My greek friends told me that when Greece was having problems with piracy during the older days they came to Paros via the Naoussa port.

I also love going to Naoussa for the best Loucoumades in town, the best dessert in the world.

Naoussa is known for the Parties but Paros is known for the chill out and relaxed life
here is what i see outside our house.
I took this during a full moon night
and also some long exposures when there was no moon and you can see all the stars

Paros mostly thrives from farming olives and other vegitation
so our house is situated in a farm area and light is very scarce at night so you can
see the gazillion stars in the sky.

Greece being relatively cloudless during summer gives you the most spectacular view of the night sky which is just breathtaking.
check out the pictures.
there is one picture where a plane passed by and it created a line in the sky.
i find it funny.
thats all.

cheers from windy, sunny and starry Greece X
