Much Respect to the Girl Who Rides

Limp dready sun dried hair
Flakey spotty dark skin Bruises,
battle scars and caluses
 Welcome to my life

It never really occurred to me how bad my overall physical condition is, if i use "normal" girl standards. I do understand why a lot of girls don't wanna ride because of the factors stated above which you will face in all eternity.

And of course i also do understand us a few ones who loves to ride and doesn't give a flying f*ck.

Am not gonna deny, i am vain. I love to dress up, paint my nails with glitter and definitely a plus to make an effort and look presentable. But sure aint easy, with the life i've chosen to be in.

I probably spend more hours outdoors than most of my guy friends and most definitely spend more time in the salon than most of my girl friends just to get that dreadlock out from constantly being in front of the wind avergaging at 15-20knots most days. It may look good in photos but windblown salty sun dried hair is not really easy to deal with I tell you!

You better give much deserved respect to the girl who rides.

Growing up in a society that considers dark skin to be ugly it wasn't an easy choice for me and definitely not easy to get a guy i like to even look at me, that i really had to capitalize on being smart and funny. hehe

That's why every year i make an effort to take you, like me, a rad.girl who rides, out for a good time with other girls like you.

A platform to encourage and empower, that you are not alone and we are all in the same boat. I say this to you, dont give up and keep on shredding, show the world what it's all about. May it be on land, water or snow, on wheels or boards. Be clad in pink, Keep on riding and don't hold back! I give my respect back to you.

You are a girl on fire!
Do not let the norms of society take out your flame. My love goes with you! ---

Getting all pumped for 2014.

Whut an effin' nightmare!
just kidding.
but yeah, seriously that was an intense 2 week holiday period of just tourist after tourist
coming in for the holidays.
It's been difficult for me to kite lately due to the abundance of kiters in the water. no.1
and also for the events ive been hosting in Kasbah.
but hey, am not complaining. am just saying :)

after a great new year's party, as always.
i was able to sleep well, jan 2, not remembering that i
have a PKA competition the next day...
aHHHHH.
i wanted to crawl out of bed in all fours to peel myself out and go ride
for a competition.
as usual i feel am not ready, never ready for anything like that.

being half asleep and also nursing a cold.
i had to compete for the first ever ICTSI kite tour in Boracay which also
determines the National rankings in the Philippines.

but still am stoked to manage to make it to 3rd place overall freestyle and 1st in Nationals.

during the singles elim i managed to climb to 2nd but afterwards during the doubles my cold was turning into a flu and my ronix boot broke.
For some reason i also always manage to get tangled in the bouy during my heats.
o well, i guess ive been focusing to much on being able to do my tricks inside the competition zone.

what doesn't kill you makes you stronger.
this experience has taught me a lot again

it was a great start of the year and am feeling the good vibrations already.

Forgive me for not updating this space some more there are a lot of projects instore in the next few months which am really excited about.

A year of fun and good vibrations to everyone. Namaste !

PS: don't forget to follow the Philippine Kiteboarding Tour here.
and my instagram at : @paularosales

we were on yesterday's paper.

Change is Good

2012 has been both equally good and bad to me i must say.

A broken heart, a dislocated shoulder, a major concussion, etc

but i was able to travel to a lot of places and met a lot of great people that inspired me to be
stay stronger than ever.

I had a great time revisiting San Francisco and see old buddies that now reside there, as much as they say that they are now used to the cold, i know they are in denial.

Lol.

The Triple S was a great experience altogether both in kiting and in the general boardsports culture.
I feel so at home with all these people around me! super fun to hang out with too!!!!
---

Greece for my second season there was also great!
I was able to explore paros more and felt like it is my homespot too that i actually cried that i had to leave.

Being back in Boracay after a very rough 2011 season due to a lot of things, now it's different.

I can say that i have learned so many things this year about me and what i really want to do.

I was able to find people that support me and my vision fully which makes me feel like am not crazy or something.LOL

First things first,

I'll do something that will bring me back to my visual roots.
After 7 years i was able to pick up a brush and paint again.
(although now am again to busy to do so)

Learn to say no.

Do what you love to do so it doesn't feel like work at all.

Never give in to peer pressure, unless you really want to anyways

----
Don't be shy to be individualistic.
I went kting in my tutu on new year's day and it was funnnn!

The December Showdown rundown

Spell HECTIC and that's me. December is always a hectic month, i thought this year would be different because we didn't have the WONW event but boy was i wrong.

As you all know, i am now riding for BEST kiteboarding. First asian rider on the team - i will never stop saying this but it's the BEST crew in the world!!!

Also, i just got signed in with ROXY and DC shoes, and got renewed for GoPro...wohooo!

Of course Tribu outdoors and The Headware are staple supporters
thanks to Jason and Jeena.

so it's gonna be a FAB year ahead when it comes to kiteboarding!

January is already full of surprises!! watch out.

---

On the other side of life, i've been going to Yoga class to strengthen the shoulder and i just love it as much as i love kiteboarding.

I also like the fact that i would be able to have Dulcinea Chorros for breakfast after yoga..
Yes guys, Dulcinea is now open in Boracay, in this place called Uptown which is near True Food in Station 2.

As much as i hate food chains opening here in there in our favorite island paradise, we really can't help that now especially with Mc D's opening up in Boracay Regency...uhhh such a waste of space.

Noli Aurillo has been Serenading us 4 times a week at Kasbah for the whole month of December, not to mention the great ambiance that my "front yard" called Kasbah is giving everyone.

PS: it's a pretty stressful job to make sure all you tourists have a great and "chill" time. BTW! lol

and i got my NEW Sol ION Harness. it's super comfy and really really snug.
i can grab my board so easy now. wiiiiii!

We also had a little christmas party by the river Nabaoy, i haven't been there for YEARSSS!!
me and anna were assigned to do the decor for our Mad Hatter Christmas Tea PArty..

it was one of those childhood dreams that you wish you have a reason to do, just for fun :)
The party was an awesome mess!! i love my friends!

PS: silver cloth courtesy of my mum.

so, in case you are wondering when do i wear my tutu. i wear it when am cooking.lol

Check out this new 2013 headware!! the new designs are to die for!

Incase you were wondering where i got all the party decor, masks, feather boas and glitters, i went on a short work trip to manila for some inspiration and shopping for the holidays.

Check out this rad lamps at the Kasbah the Fort girl's washroom

and these cute decor by the bar.

The Kasbah experience won't be complete without... a chocolate cheesecake!!
yummmmy!

I also went to the Dapitan arcade to score some christmas decor and lamps, i wanted to buy everything!!

and of course a visit to the Roxy Store in Robinson's Manila :)

some more snaps from my short manila trip

Happy Holidays everyone, hope all is doing well.

am a bit disappointed that my 60D is broken, my iPhone is broken and the other day i busted the bladder of my 7m TS.

Also, i cannot believe how dependent i am with my iPhone, my calendar, contacts, everything is there.
now am a bit confused with whats going on workwise.

tsk

:(

O well, am sure 2013 is gonna be RAD!!!

Wohooo!

Lots of Love from Boracay

Cheers XO
Paula :)
